Port Millom has been used to dismantle numerous vessels including; warships, dredgers, coasters, trawlers, tug boats, tankers and passenger craft. Three, 3000 Tonnes, Leander Class Frigates have been broken at the site, however, being a shallow water quay, we are unable to provide facilities for the larger vessels.
We no longer break ships ourselves but are willing to offer the site and its facilities to third parties to carry out operations at Port Millom. The large, stable quayside area provides excellent storage, handling and sorting space with plenty of room for plant and machinery to work and park. The solid base of the quay allows machines to work freely at times of low tide. Ship-breaking operations can take advantage of the workshop and office cabins that are permanently on site and the industrial generator which provides electricity to these.
At Port Millom are aware of the ever increasing emphasis that is placed on the re-use and recycling of materials in an effort to preserve ever-depleting resources. As with all the activities at the facility, we acknowledge the part that we can play in the effort to achieve greater environmental sustainability. Please contact us and find out what Port Millom has to offer.
